My honest review of the Monos carryon plus and medium check in luggage

For months I contemplated on purchasing a good quality suitcase set. I went back and forth between Away and Monos and researched both brands extensively. I had friends mention great things about Away so initially I was set on purchasing an Away suitcase. However the color I wanted (desert sand) was completely sold out and never restocked. When I stumbled upon Monos I noticed that they had a wider array of colors and accessories such as luggage covers which was actually a huge selling point for me. (Away does not sell luggage covers) They also offered a 100 day trial just like Away which I was happy to see.

I ended up purchasing the Monos carryon plus, the check in medium in desert taupe and the matching check in luggage cover. I used this set for a recent work trip and their matching luggage cover protected my new suitcase really well and prevented any marks although the cover took quite a beating. The luggages also come with a magic eraser, luggage tag and laundry bags which were a great addition!

The ‘roll’ was extremely smooth on carpet and on concrete which I struggled with when I used other brands. Overall I have been impressed with the quality of this set and think it is well worth the investment. I just used the carryon the second time and had a great experience however on my trip back I began to have an issue with the handle not coming up easily but when I unpacked the suitcase, I had zero issues, so I will have to use the suitcase again to see if it happens again. I am also wondering if the suitcase was packed so full which was causing this. One feature I personally am not a fan of, is the button being on the bottom of the handle, I noticed I ended up pressing the button on the bottom of the handle several times and the placement is just a bit awkward.

I will note that despite having a light color there haven’t been as many scuff marks as you would expect. I didn’t have a cover for my carryon and the scuff marks were hardly noticeable and any marks there were came out easily with a magic eraser.

Also, the Monos customer service was fantastic. I had reached out about ensuring that my suitcase arrived in time for my trip and they made sure it was shipped quickly and it arrived the evening before I left! Currently all suitcases are 10% off and free shipping for all US and Canada orders!

I was particularly impressed with the quality of the luggage cover, it took quite a beating as you can see from the photo below but under the cover my suitcase was in almost perfect condition. I am so glad I purchased the the luggage cover it was well worth the purchase.

The suitcases are very solid and the carry on plus is the perfect size and fits in most overhead bins. It also features a TSA-approved lock and built in compression pad which was great to have and be able to fit more items. All in all I am very satisfied with my purchase and glad to have made the investment in a good quality suitcase set. If you are thinking of purchasing a set I recommend waiting for a site wide holiday sale as Monos does have sales every few months.
