What to wear for a casual night out in Downtown Seattle
Jean Ahn
I have been meaning to do a post on what to wear for a casual night out in Seattle. Since moving back to Seattle from San Diego a few years ago I had to adjust not only my lifestyle but also my style. The weather is definitely much cooler in Seattle and most of the downtown area is very hilly. Don’t even bother with any stilettos or crazy heels because you won’t even make it one block lol! But in all seriousness Seattle does have a unique charm about it and there are so many fun spots to visit. One of my favorite spots include the Heritage Distillery tasting room. It’s located right in Capitol Hill and has a earthy, hipster vibe that is also quite cozy for a cold, rainy day which is the norm during the fall and winter.
Here are some of my go-to pieces for a night out in Seattle:
Leather jacket- it’s chic, casual but still a bit edgy at the same time. I always get compliments on this leather jacket which I have had for about 4 years and I also own it in a few other colors as well. I also recommend this and this.
Low Heel Booties- This is a must in Seattle. Because of the endless hills, uneven concrete and well more hills, I will only wear low heeled boots out in downtown. Even in the summer, it’s chilly at night time so I actually end up wearing comfy, low heel booties. I like this and this.
OTK boots- Flat over the knee boots are perfect for Seattle, they are stylish, comfy and can handle all the hills! I love this and this.
Graphic tees- Graphic rocker tees are totally on trend right now and they are perfect to pair with a leather jacket, jeans and boots. I love this Rolling Stones tee and Beatles Tee.
Leopard Print- Currently leopard seems to be the new neutral. It is everywhere! You can never go wrong with a leopard cardi or sweater to wear for a night out. It’s perfect for fall and winter adds a little pop of pattern as opposed to plain gray or black which I tend to wear wayyy too much since moving back to Seattle.
Adding color- Since I have turned to wearing lots and lots of black I try to add a pop of color with an all black or neutral colored outfit whether its a bright colored jacket, purse or a pair of shoes. I love to focus one item of to make entire outfit pop!
Rain jacket and a pea coat- Be sure to have rain coat or a thick pea coat handy, evenings are typically chilly all year round and the chance of rain is pretty high so I always try to be prepared.
